This week, we?re giving you an inside look at the man who will be headlining the Easter Fest ?Rozay Monday? show. We all know the rapper, but here?s your chance to meet the philanthropist. To some he?s the ?Biggest Boss?, but some fortunate youths would opt to call him a ?guardian angel?. This is the exact role William Roberts, aka Rick Ross, plays in the lives of hundreds of youths every day.
In 2006, he founded the Rick Ross Charities Incorporated with a strong mission to ?strengthen the lives of today?s at-risk youths from all backgrounds. His foundation aims to provide resources through education advocacy, mentoring programmes, and financial resources to deserving students. Now many of you may not have predicted that this is the way this multi-award winning rapper spends his off-time, but to Ross this is more than a hobby, it?s a passion.
Ross, a graduate of Miami Carol City High School, was given the opportunity to attend Albany State University on a full athletic scholarship for football. He has often stated that this experience strengthened his confidence, adding truth to the credo ?you can do anything you put your mind to?. His success is fuelled by his educational accomplishments, perseverance, and belief that his dreams could come true. Now, Rick Ross, one of the best MCs in music and entertainment, serves his community by believing in and encouraging the youth today that nothing is out of reach.
Ross is committed to having his charity organisation serve as a catalyst to inspire positive change by creating and supporting programmes that uplift the well-being of today?s youth. The charity provides community support through various programmes and projects such as the annual Rick Ross Be out Day. This fun day was launched in 2007 to get children motivated about going back to school. The students receive complimentary back packs, school supplies, and education advocacy from their favourite recording artists and local leaders all while enjoying a fun day at the park. Thanksgiving turkey giveaways, holiday gift giveaways, college scholarship funds and financial donations to various schools and organisations are just a few of the activities the Rick Ross charities take part in yearly.
Ross earnestly believes that education is the foundation of all success and he has certainly proved this through this own personal achievements.
