NYC museum exhibit celebrates Thanksgiving parade

NEW YORK?? A New York City children's museum has opened an exhibit celebrating the beloved Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The exhibit at the Children's Museum of Manhattan uses photos, posters and audio and video recordings to showcase the parade's history. It includes five original models from which balloons such as Curious George and Snoopy were made.

The Thanksgiving parade started in the 1920s. Its huge, whimsical helium balloons make it one of the city's most popular annual events. It's televised nationally.

Organizers of this year's parade are getting the balloons and floats ready for the big day Thursday.

The exhibit about the parade opened Saturday and will run through Jan. 17.
