Live from the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show

Southern California is a bipolar car market. While exotic sports cars are as common as pickups in Texas, there's also huge interest in fuel efficient hybrids and EVs. This dichotomy makes for a fascinating car show, where new fuel sippers share the limelight with high-end performance models. Here are the highlights from this year's show. By The Editors

Jaguar C-X16

We saw this car at the Frankfurt show, but for L.A., Jaguar changed the color from grey to white?with terrific effect. The C-X16, which Jag calls a pure sports car, appears even more sensual. Under the hood is a 380 hp supercharged V6 coupled to an eight-speed automatic with a electric boost motor. The electric motor adds another 95 hp; you can use it either as a 10-second "push to pass" mode, or the electric motor can propel the car silently for roughly 45 miles.

When the car appears in 2014 (Jag hasn't confirmed production, but it's all but definite), it'll more likely come with the supercharged V6 only. And we bet Jaguar will offer a manual transmission, too. Expect this one to start around $75,000.
