Essa said, "As Society of Engineers - UAE celebrates its 33 years of exceptional service to the public in which we have accomplished outstanding achievements in accrediting the engineering certifications, regulating professional practices, standards and specifications and developing the skills and qualifications of all engineers in the UAE, we are now moving forward to provide our members and the engineering sector an international standards that can be used as national standards for health, safety and environment. The MOU is designed to provide awareness of the standardization systems and encourage participation of engineers in the ASTM standards development processes for the benefit of health, safety, environment and economic growth of our country."

SOE and ASTM express their readiness to work together and to upgrade and enhance the current relations between professionals and specific entities of both organizations. ASTM also wishes to increase its membership in the United Arab Emirates through partnership with SOE to increase input into its international standards through active participation of such members in ASTM committees and their respective standards development processes.
