How will you get bank loan or perhaps cash loan?

Benefits : No fax , No credit check , Really fast ... and more !

Depending on your condition of house, job position as well as profits, you are able to be eligible for credit as high as $1500, even though some loan companies will give no more than $500. You will have opportunity to observe how much you be entitled to just before accepting any mortgage loan agreement.

There is certainly an important legal big difference from a present and also a bank loan. A really generous relative or good friend may offer you $5000 regarding auto repairs, as an example. In case there's no hope of payment, the amount of money may very well be a present. The actual provider could not file suit for payment later within a municipal match. However when the credit provider designates the amount of money just like a bank loan as well as the consumer pays back again a dollar, the bucks can be viewed a legitimate loan and also the loan provider could demand repayment whenever. Small statements legal courts spend a lot of period determining whether a transaction which include cash would be a present or bank loan. Because of this paperwork is essential when designing personal financial loans to buddies or perhaps family members.

The requirements for getting credit are quite obvious. In case you are employed, having a regular monthly income regarding $800 or even more, and also have a bank-account, you fulfill the fundamental qualifications. Some loan companies inside our network might have extra requirements.

Cash financial products tend to be unguaranteed financial loans eliminated upon your next salary. Because they're short-term lending products, they could be small; different from $100 to $1500 as well as payment comes to your next pay day. They could be very useful for conquering a quick financial emergency, however shouldn't be viewed as a long-term monetary solution.

The majority of home loan programs are addressed through finance institutions or other expert lenders. They might make use of a variety of conditions to determine if the potential client is skilled for a financial loan. Past credit rating is practically usually regarded, along with existing revenue and assets. The objective of the money may also be a good issue-a established expense opportunity may have a lot more appeal compared to a good misdirected concept for just about any new cafe. One particular essential point may be the income to credit card debt ratio through the customer. Can the customer have the ability to pay the loan back again interest? Professional loan companies basically 'sell' income, consequently debtors must be aware just how much funding actually 'costs' when it comes to real cash.

Anne Hathaway marries Adam Shulman

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman in New York in June.

By Bruna Nessif, E! Online

Anne Hathaway's big day was Saturday. The "Dark Knight Rises" star wed?fiance Adam Shulman in a private ceremony in the scenic redwood-studded coastal enclave of Big Sur, Calif., E! News has confirmed. As we previously reported, Hathaway was swathed in a gown specially designed by her friend Valentino Garavani.

The 29-year-old Oscar-nominated star found her Mr. Right, fellow actor Shulman, not long after discovering she had devoted years of her love life to Mr. Oh-So-Wrong. So in honor of their nuptials, let's take a look back at how the newlyweds' love affair began...

Five things you need to know about Anne Hathaway's hubby

January 2009: The public first caught wind of this new couple when Hathaway was spotted with Shulman at the opening gala of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where Hathaway picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award for "Rachel Getting Married." PDA was kept to a minimum, but there was a quick lip-lock (many more to follow in the coming years).

May 2010: Anne and Adam stayed off the radar for a bit, that is, until Shulman was spotted jacking some mural art from a Manhattan construction site. Don't worry, he returned it (after paparazzi got pictures of him taking it).

August 2011: Seriously, though, where was Adam Shulman hiding? Apparently, he was a little camera shy. "He's in there hanging out with my friends," Hathaway told us during the One Day premiere?in New York City. Hey, more spotlight for his leading lady.

Anne Hathaway ties the knot with Adam in Big Sur

Nov. 28, 2011: And all of a sudden -- bam! -- this duo is engaged! Well, maybe not exactly "all of a sudden," since it had been three years, but we were happily surprised, nonetheless. Hathaway's rep confirmed the engagement to E! News, but the actress kept proposal details under wraps. Shucks!

Nov. 30, 2011: The ring! Anne showed off the unique creation made especially for her by Shulman and Kwiat jewelers. "We were honored to have the opportunity to work with Adam. He had a strong vision for what he wanted to present to Anne and we worked with him to make a custom design," a rep for the company told E! News.

December 2011: Speculation as to when the big ceremony would go down started swirling and leaned toward October 2012. Her rep denied such claims, but it clearly wasn't too far off.

Les Misrables' release date changed to Christmas

July 2012-September 2012: Remember how we said that these lovebirds kept their public displays of affection to a minimum in the beginning? Well, it seemed like all that changed once that diamond was on Anne's finger, because it became PDA all day, everyday, anywhere, any time. But it was super sweet.

Sept. 20, 2012: Most of the wedding plans have been kept hush-hush, except for one (pretty important) detail: the designer of Anne's wedding dress. And that just so happens to be Valentino Garavani. During the New York City Ballet's fall gala, the fashion icon told E! News he "did the dress" for Anne's nuptials. "She's a very good friend of mine," Valentino gushed. Like family? "Oh, yes. She's like my daughter!"

Sept. 29, 2012: The couple swap vows in Big Sur, Calif.

Let's take a stroll down memory lane with these newlyweds!

North Ireland Protestant march begins peacefully

LONDON (AP) ? A large Protestant march through the heart of Northern Ireland's capital has begun peacefully amid a heavy police presence.

Tens of thousands are expected to participate in one of Belfast's biggest parades in years, and authorities have deployed in force to prevent street clashes with Northern Ireland's Catholic minority.

The Unionist marches date back to the 19th century and are a longstanding irritant between Northern Ireland's two main religious communities and show no sign of fading away, despite a successful peace process.

Nearly every aspect of the marches ? from the parade route to the music played ? is fought over by both sides.

Chevron pays $17M fine for oil spill off Brazil

SAO PAULO (AP) ? Chevron Corp. has paid a multimillion-dollar fine for several "irregularities" in connection with last year's oil spill off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's National Petroleum Agency said.

The agency said in a Thursday statement that Chevron paid the 35.1 million real ($17.3 million) fine last week for 24 of 25 irregularities detected. The statement did not provide details on the irregularities.

Some 155,000 gallons of crude are thought to have been released in the November 2011 spill.

The agency said it granted Chevron a 30 percent discount because it paid the fine on time and did not challenge it.

Chevron confirmed it paid the fine and said it will "implement a number of process improvements developed from lessons learned in the incident. Chevron Brasil respects and complies with the laws of the countries in which it operates."

The company said in a Friday statement that "continuous monitoring of the incident area shows no discernible environmental impact to marine life or human health."

Also on Friday, Brazil's state-run oil company, Petroleo Brasileiro SA, said it filed a suit in federal court asking for the suspension of an injunction ordering driller Transocean Ltd. to cease operations in Brasil until investigations into the spill are completed.

The company said in a statement that the suspension would hurt Petrobras' exploration activities since it is currently using seven Transocean rigs in Brazil.

Earlier this week, Transocean and Chevron were served injunctions ordering them to suspend operations in Brazil within 30 days.

Auto Loans With Poor Credit ? What Most ... - Free Finance Articles

While some people may be able to get by without a vehicle, the truth is that most people can?t. To put it in simple terms; if you need an auto then you need a car. Maybe you live somewhere that doesn?t have any public transport, and you certainly can?t be a hermit. You have a job to go to and not having an automobile isn?t an option. But you?ve got an extra concern because your credit isn?t all that great. If so , then you are not alone, however you really can get auto loans with poor credit.

One of the most important factors in what kind of loan it?s easy to get is your credit score. The better your score the better your loan should be. It requires a while for any changes you make to be reflected in your credit report, so you need to start making changes right away. Additionally , if there is any way you can delay buying a auto, it?ll give you more time to get your credit into better shape.

When you have poor credit you pay out more for a loan than someone who has sound credit. Where someone with sound credit may just be able to get an auto loan for 5%, someone with bad credit can expect to pay anywhere from 12% to 25% for a similar loan. Let?s use a $10,000 loan with 60 regular payments to find out how the rates compare. At 5% you?ll pay a grand total of $11,320, but at 12% and 25% that turns into $13,345 and $17,610 respectively. That is the reason why it is so vital to do what you can to boost your credit.

Always recall that it is your money, and that implies it?s your responsibility to manage it sensibly. Hunting around for the best possible loan, regardless of how bad your credit is, is the clever move to do. As you?ve already seen, one or two % points could save you thousands of bucks. Your goal is to get as good of a rate as your are able to. Even though it took you one or two hours to track down the most competitive rate, it might be more than worthwhile.

It should come as no surprise the economy isn?t precisely at its strongest right at this time. The good news is that banks and automobile dealers are mindful of this and are working diligently to help people get auto loans with poor credit. In the past lenders might have laughed you out the door if you had damaged credit, but today they will practically bend right over to work something out for you. if the 1st lender you go to turns you down, then go to another one?and then another?and then another if you have to.

Having damaged credit isn?t any fun, but it does not need to stop you from getting an auto loan. Just make sure that you compare them carefully and read all the fine print. That way you will be able to get an automobile you want at the best possible price.

Joe Wilson has worked in the loan industry for over two decades. Let him share with you his years of experience with payday loans, auto loans, student loans and the new peer to peer loans.

NEW YORK (AP) ? As consumers we want our electronic gadgets to be durable. But as patients, we might want them to dissolve ? inside our bodies.

Scientists reported Thursday that they succeeded in creating tiny medical devices sealed in silk cocoons that did the work they were designed for, then dissolved in the bodies of lab mice. It's an early step in a technology that may hold promise, not only for medicine, but also for disposal of electronic waste.

The new work is "a remarkable achievement" in combining materials to produce a working device, said Christopher Bettinger of Carnegie Mellon University. He works on biodegradable electronics but was not involved in the study.

Doctors already use implants that dispense drugs or provide electrical stimulation, but they don't dissolve. The new work is aimed at making devices that do their jobs as long as needed and then just dissolved, without need for surgical removal or risk of long-term side effects.

In the experiment, the devices ? which look like tiny computer chips ? were designed to generate heat, a potential strategy for fighting infection after surgery by killing germs, said John Rogers of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an author of the study.

The devices worked in the mice for more than a week, until their silk coatings dissolved enough for bodily fluids to erode key parts of the devices, he said. After three weeks, the tiny gadgets had basically disappeared.

Someday for people, similar devices might be programmed to monitor the body and release drugs accordingly, or produce electric current to accelerate bone healing, Rogers said.

The researchers used the protective cocoon envelope because silk can be processed to stay intact for varying periods of time ? from seconds to weeks and potentially for years, he said. The device's circuitry itself was built from other materials that degrade in the body, such as magnesium and silicon.

The federally funded research was reported online in the journal Science.

Apart from medicine, the technology offers a way to cut down on electronic waste, or E-waste, if portable consumer devices could be made with decomposing components, the researchers wrote.

And there are other potential uses, too Rogers suggested. For example, such devices could be scattered near a chemical spill to monitor things like chemical concentrations without any need to retrieve them later.

NFL 2012

Golden Tate Seahawks The play that ended the NFL referees lockout, which one owner described as more about ideology than finances.

Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images

Tuesday night, as the NFL and its locked-out refs were progressing to the?"Screw it, let's start leaking to Mort" phase of negotiations, an unnamed NFL owner gave the whole game away?to the?Wall Street Journal:

According to one owner who has been briefed by league officials on the issue, the disagreement with the referees is more ideological than it is financial.

And that's it. That was the stupid, preening essence of a stupid, preening work stoppage, which more or less came to an end with?last night's tentative agreement. Under the terms of the deal, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will temporarily lift the lockout so the regular officials can work tonight's Cleveland-Baltimore game; if the union ratifies the agreement in a vote on Friday or Saturday, the refs will be back en masse on Sunday.

Goodell and his owners may have lost the PR battle on Monday when their sport turned into the last 10 minutes of?Horse Feathers, but they won the ideological fight our anonymous owner alluded to above. It was nominally about retirement benefits, but in fact it was a struggle over what it means to be a worker or an employer under our dyspeptic yet triumphal contemporary brand of capitalism.

The NFL locked out its referees in the name of taking away their pensions. It was not that the pensions were a threat to the long-term fiscal survival of the league?again and again, we were reminded that the sums involved were pocket change in a growing, multibillion-dollar enterprise. It was that the pensions existed at all. The mere existence of a defined-benefit retirement plan offended an ownership class that had looked around and seen that every other business owner in America had already broken that particular contract. The referees' old deal was deemed insufficiently hard-edged or market-driven. That was the most vulgar thing about the lockout. It was ??aesthetic.

Two weeks ago, Goodell?whined to the Huffington Post's Dave Jamieson?that?he?didn't have a pension; why should the refs?

"From the owners' standpoint, right now they're funding a pension program that is a defined benefit program," said Goodell, who was in Washington on Wednesday attending a luncheon hosted by Politico's Playbook. "About ten percent of the country has that. Yours truly doesn't have that. It's something that doesn't really exist anymore and that I think is going away steadily."

"What we agreed to do and offer as ownership," he added, "is that they would have a defined contribution plan, in the form of 401(k), so they'll still have a pension plan but the risk, like [for] most of us, would be on individuals."

If it's bad enough for the rest of us, in other words, it should be bad enough for them, too. And on that count, the only one that really mattered to the league, the NFL won. The refs will keep their pensions, but beginning in 2017, the defined-benefit plan will be frozen, and new hires will get thrown into 401(k)s.

The pension deal is a concession mainly of principle for the current refs, a minor one on its face that will surely have all the usual nutless cherubim playing all the usual harp music for Goodell's assiduously fair-minded statesmanship. But these losses matter; they move the timberline back and normalize whatever new privation has been introduced into working life, which is why Dumbass Pericles and his ilk pick the fights in the first place.

This?was?Goodell's fight, too. Apologists for the commissioner, like ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, argue that the commissioner was "simply doing what the NFL owners want him to do." (Florio went so deep into the tank for Goodell on Wednesday that I don't think he'll surface until the playoffs.) But note, when the?Wall Street Journal?brings up the ideological stakes, who was doing the briefing and who was getting debriefed. The political line originated with the league office.

How does ripping up the pension program identifiably serve the league's practical interests, anyway? One of the selling points of 401(k) plans is that they're better suited to a dynamic economy in which workers frequently change jobs. But the league doesn't want refs ducking in and out. They're essentially lifers.

Goodell talks incessantly about protecting "the shield." He means the league's heraldic corporate logo?its brand?not any useful sort of shield. His whole tenure has been a prolonged and infinitely smarmy exercise in shifting risk and liability off the league and onto the help. He changes the rules midseason to put the onus for player health onto the players themselves. He wages an "ideological" battle to expose the refs to the whims of the market. "It's ironic that you, the NFL, is what's screwing this brand up right now," ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer intoned in the weird aftermath of Monday night's game, when he and Steve Young and Stuart Scott all started talking like Ralph Nader. Dilfer's right, and not just about the quality of play. The refs, with their pensions and their moonlighting, are vestiges of an older NFL. The lockout wasn't just a war on them; it was part of the NFL's ongoing battle with its former self.

Oculus Rift VR headset render

Anyone who's been wanting to make a game for the Oculus Rift headset, but hemmed and hawed during the Kickstarter run, now has a second chance. Oculus has kicked off its own pre-order campaign that offers the VR developer kit at the same $300 that it cost for the more proactive among us, or $345 for those beyond US borders. As an added incentive, the first 1,000 who pull the trigger still get a copy of Doom 3: BFG Edition to show what the Oculus Rift can do. Twiddling your thumbs will have cost at least a month -- these new kits won't ship until January -- but the pre-order still means a head start over competing developers that haven't yet seen the virtual light.

Northwest Scholastic Press : Writing coach extraordinare to share ...

One of the English-speaking world?s top writing coaches will speak to delegates at this year?s NWSP Fall Press Day Oct. 24 at University of Oregon in Eugene. Jack Hart?s session will reveal ?The Secret of Telling Stories? based on news reports that will put your publications on the path of the world?s best narrative journalism.

Hart is currently the interim director of the SOJC?s George Turnbull Center in Portland, headquarters of Northwest Scholastic Press.

During his quarter century at?The Oregonian, the Pacific Northwest?s largest newspaper, Hart served as managing editor, training editor, and writing coach. He has conducted writing workshops throughout the English-speaking world.?He also has worked as a reporter, arts and leisure editor, Sunday magazine editor, and editor at large. He has additional reporting experience at two other newspapers.

Hart is also the author of?A Writer?s Coach: An Editor?s Guide to Words That Work, released as a Pantheon hardback in 2006 and as a Vintage Books paperback in 2007. A Writer?s Coach?is Hart?s effort to make writing less painful for the rest of us. The book can help any writer learn the tricks and habits of good writers.

?Just about everybody agrees that good writing is tight, that it?s forceful,? Hart explains. ?Good writing incorporates lively verbs and clean syntax. It?s colorful. It includes descriptive elements that can put you in the scene. It?s rhythmic. ? Developing a process to get you there is not some closely guarded mystery, Hart explains, but the step-by-step conquest of craft.

His latest book, Storycraft: The Complete Guide to Writing Narrative Nonfiction?(Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing) was published last summer.

Hart?s other works include? The Information Empire,?a history of the?Los Angeles Times,?along with dozens of articles for popular magazines, academic journals, and trade publications. His column, ?The Writer?s Workshop,? ran in?Editor & Publisher?magazine for a decade.

He edited four Pulitzer Prize finalists, including winners in explanatory journalism and feature writing. He also edited a portion of the work recognized with the 2001 Pulitzer Gold Medal for Public Service and the 2006 breaking-news Pulitzer.?Along the way he developed an international reputation for his work with narrative nonfiction.

Hart, who earned his doctorate at the University of Wisconsin doctorate in Mass Communications, was a tenured faculty member and acting dean of the journalism school at the University of Oregon, and taught at six major universities. He?s also served as visiting faculty at the American Press Institute and the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.

He has coached two Pulitzer Prize winners (and contributed to two others), as well as national winners of the ASNE writing awards, the Ernie Pyle award, the Scripps-Howard business-writing award, the Overseas Press Club awards, the Headliners awards and the Society of Professional Journalists feature-writing award.

He was recently profiled by the University of Washington as an outstanding alumnus of the Department of Communication. (http://www.com.washington.edu/alumni/notes/profiles/hart.html)?The article explains how he accidently discovered journalism and became one of the first writing coaches for a daily newspaper.

Massively Improve Your Internet Marketing Business With Guru ...

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Closely evaluate the actions of your top competitors and analyze that data to formulate your own plans. If they look like they are a site that you would purchase product from, then they might be a very good role model for you.

TIP! It?s well-known that people feel respect for those in authority in a business. If you let people know who you are, they know you run the show.

For any person that owns a business, internet marketing is a dream come true. Internet marketing offers a variety of ways to reach customers all over the world. Many of these methods are extremely inexpensive and effective. This article will open the door to Internet marketing success. Step through the door and watch your profits take off.

Your internet marketing strategy doesn?t have to be limited to the internet itself. Try to connect with bloggers in your industry and meet with them in person, either through a conference or just a business meeting. This will help you create a sense of belonging and will get you business name out there to be recognized.

TIP! Creating viral videos, with tags of course, is a great way to generate interest and will really help your internet marketing strategy. Also put a link back to your site within the description of the video.

Always offer something free on your website. This can help to reel in your customer so that they establish loyalty with your site. Some of the things that you can do on a monetary website include offering a free return or a financial calculator.

If you utilize regular emails to your customers, make sure you?re rotating the links that you include within those emails. The link blocks that stay the same in each email are generally ignored. Your email readers will be less likely to lose interest if you keep changing up the links in your emails.

TIP! Email marketing is an important, beneficial tool. It is important to protect the confidential information entrusted to you by your customers.

Successful Internet marketers are enthusiastic about what it is they?re trying to do. Demonstrate to potential customers the positive feelings you have toward your business and product. Enthusiasm is contagious! This will result in more profit through sales and referrals.

A good way in which to get the humanitarians on your side in an online business is to make sure that you?re donating a portion of your proceeds to some type of charity. Everyone who visits your website should plainly see that their purchases will help support the charity, although you don?t want to push it in their faces left and right. You will receive a good bump in business by offering this incentive, even if the actual percentage donated is relatively small.

TIP! Many Internet users love playing games, so consider creating a simple game to keep visitors coming back to your site. Some users will certainly refer friends to your website as well.

Let customers be able to write ratings on your products and enable them the option to explain why these ratings were chosen. Honest feedback helps you offer better products and other customers have more confidence, because someone else has already tried the products and highlighted the strong points, along with any possible need for improvement.

Put in some time to develop the web design basics. For instance, you can teach yourself about HTML, CSS, and other design basics using information or tutorials you find online. You should set aside a specified time each day for at least a month to learning the basics to webpage creation.

TIP! If you give your customers the chance to subscribe to your company?s Ezine, you?ll be able to use it as an effective element of your marketing mix. Your goal will be to develop an Ezine that your customers will see as the voice of your company so you can build a long-term relationship with them.

A great way to update an otherwise stagnant website is to include a blog. The thing here is that content is always king on the web. Any search engine out there eats up new info, so having a blog ensures that your business is always updated. One easy way to have consistent fresh information is to add a blog.

Something you should consider when Internet marketing is that you should never spend all your money in one place. This applies to this sort of business, because it often takes time for these businesses to become established and to turn any major profit. Hang onto your stable job until you know for sure it is safe to leave.

TIP! Use ?guaranteed? in your text to enhance your readers? trust in your product or service offerings, and increase your marketing success. Your guarantee is good as long as you hold up to it, people do not want to feel like are risking anything.

To increase your chances of success with Internet marketing, it is imperative that your website is designed well. Check frequently for broken links, outdated information and any other problems that could detract from the message and product you are presenting. People seldom purchase anything from a website that just does not work right.

Avoid spam if it?s possible. Although it might seem easy to promote your site using software that crawls the web and fires off comments and e-mails, you probably won?t be very successful at all. Such a heavy-handed and impersonal method of advertising is more likely to annoy people than to reach anyone interested in what you are trying to sell.

TIP! It is important to use descriptive captions with any images or pictures that you post. Search engines will use these captions in relation to searches.

Post a video of yourself using the product you?re selling. This way the consumer will see you actually using the product. Demonstrate the features of the product, as well as its benefits. Share your videos on YouTube and social networks.

Avoid abandoning projects that never worked out. A product or a marketing method that did not work might catch on later. The Internet is constantly in flux, with new uses being discovered daily. Avoid investing too much money in unworkable ideas, but save them.

Most cell phone providers offer the option of adding a dedicated work number to your existing mobile device. A dedicated business number is therefore the best solution.

Increase site traffic with original content. Online retailers with common products should especially note this, as there is more competition in the search engine. Write unique product descriptions incorporating keywords to make your site stand out.

TIP! One great Internet marketing tip is to be the authority on everything you put on your site. You need to be an authority figure to glean credibility from your visitors, and you can only do this by being knowledgeable and honest.

Don?t spend too much for advertising. You don?t want to waste money on something that is of no benefit to your business. If you are interested in investing, ensure you get the most out of it, banners are a way to do this.

If you want to be successful marketing on the Internet, it is very important that you do not just copy others. Search engines are very good at identifying duplicate content, so copying will just hurt you in the long run. Be innovative.

TIP! Instead of marketing your site as a business, market it as a group or a social site. Your site will see lots of returning traffic when people come back to converse with other site visitors and customers.

As has been revealed earlier, internet marketing is an amazing way to reach out to customers and to bring attention to your business and products. The opportunities are endless and the benefits are immense. By utilizing the information in the article, you can build your customer base and bring new recognition to your company

You must learn how to implement HTML tags. HTML tags tell the search engine that this content is important. It will display in the search engine under your website name to give readers an idea of what your website is about. The content you emphasize through HTML tags will be picked up by search engines. Emphasize, then, your most important keywords.?

It can be hard to know how to go about the content on your site. Find a clear and concise interest to go with on your website. You should ...

Former Alabama professor gets life in prison

Amy Bishop, avoided a death sentence by admitting earlier this month to gunning down her colleagues during a biology department staff meeting at the University of Alabama at Huntsville.

Alabama law requires a jury to decide the punishment and confirm a guilty plea for a capital murder charge.

Bishop's defense attorneys did not contest the facts of the case during the abbreviated proceedings on Monday.

"She has admitted she did these terrible things," defense attorney Robert Tuten said in his opening statement.

Bishop, a Harvard-trained biologist and mother of four, was accused of shooting her colleagues execution-style in February 2010. Colleagues believed Bishop was angry that the school had denied her tenure.

The trial on Monday took less than two hours and featured only two witnesses. One was Bishop's former colleague Debra Moriarity, who recalled how she tried to take Bishop down after the woman started firing during the meeting.

Trying to stop shooting

Trained in gun safety by her hunter father, Moriarity testified that she ducked and crawled under a table to grab Bishop's legs.

"I was yelling, 'Stop, Amy! Stop! Don't do this!'" said Moriarity, who is now chairwoman of the biology department.

Moriarity said Bishop then pointed the gun at her. As Moriarity begged for her life, Bishop repeatedly pulled the trigger but the gun jammed, Moriarity testified. She said Bishop was silent during the attack.

As a police investigator showed jurors photos of the dead professors on Monday, Bishop put her head on the defense table and softly sobbed. Bishop, who last year had pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, did not speak during the trial.

After her arrest in Alabama, authorities in Braintree, Massachusetts, charged Bishop with the 1986 shooting death of her teenage brother.

Authorities in Massachusetts were awaiting the outcome of the Alabama trial before deciding how to proceed in their case.

Jurors on Monday did not have to weigh Bishop's guilt in the attempted murder charges, for which Circuit Judge Alan Mann sentenced her to three consecutive life sentences.

After the trial, professor Joseph Leahy, who lost an eye in the shooting and has just returned to teaching, said he felt the verdict was just.

"Seeing the photos was tough - I was seeing the bodies of my friends," he said. "They took the first three shots, and I got the fourth. I feel fortunate to be alive."

The Best Way to Study TOEFL

The TOEFL (Test Of English Fluency Level) test has been taken by thousands of people around the world. It is a globally accepted test that provides colleges and many others with information about a person?s English fluency level, and TOEFL scores can even be included in college applications. Therefore, a lot of people choose to study for it. I study TOEFL as well, and over the recent summer break, I was able to pull my grade up from 103 to 113. I feel that I have learned skills and tips that I can share with others. In my opinion, the best way to study for TOEFL tests is to practice understanding logical structures of passages. The following passages explain why I believe so, and how you can practice it.

Why?

Logic is very important in TOEFL. The ability to understand the logical relationships between ideas presented in passages is considered as the border that separates scores from 0 to 100 and 100 to 120. A lot of people study hard to cross that border. If you are studying for TOEFL, this means that your English is fluent to some degree. You probably do not have that much problems with vocabulary and sentencing skills. People like you will have no problems with getting perfect scores on the TOEIC and TEPS tests (some other kinds of English tests) but will need to work harder to perfect a TOEFL test. In the ?Reading and Listening sections, TOEFL wants to see if you could understand the author?s purpose of mentioning certain topics or the speaker?s intention of making a speech. In order to do this, you must be able to link the ideas using logic through the context provided. In the?Writing and Speaking sections, TOEFL wants to see if you can speak and write in decent English with your argument supported by your sub-ideas, logically. Thus, making logical relationships between ideas is the most important thing if you want to get a score above 100 points.

How?

Now, how can we study effectively for TOEFL tests?

First of all, you should memorize as many words as possible. This is so that you won?t have any problems with understanding passages and expressing your thoughts while taking the test. I would suggest memorizing as many words as you can until you run into the words you already memorized from before. If you are a Korean, the books ?Hackers Vocabulary? by David Cho and ??? ?? Vocabulary? by Tomato are highly recommended. Memorize them all!

Practice is the next key.

With the Listening and Reading section, you should practice to see the logical structure of passages: ?Why is the author saying this??, ?Why did the student call his friend?? and so on. You should keep on solving problems until you get used to the question types and time limits as well. Practice, practice, and practice.

With the Speaking and Writing section, you should practice giving responses that are logically structured. For example, if you want to talk about why you like apples, your explanations shouldn?t say because you don?t like bananas. With the Speaking section, you just have to practice speaking. Watch American or British TV series to improve your English accent. The ?TOEFL test encourages you to speak in either one of those two accents as they are two of the most used English in the world.

To sum up, the best way to study for TOEFL tests is to practice understanding logical structures of passages. However, the most important thing is having the passion for studying for the TOEFL test and?investing?in one?s future.

an-artists-journey-to-pinterest-and-etsy - Web.Search.Social. The ...

integrity studio interviewMore than a decade ago, Carl Christensen, then an advertising director and graphic designer, felt an instinctive pull to leave behind his corporate lifestyle and pursue his own craft. He shot some landscape photos and headed to a flea market with his wife, Ina. After selling a few hundred photos, Ina said, ?That?s where your heart is.? Carl took a leap of faith, opening his own gallery, Integrity Studio, in New Hope, PA. Integrity Studio was recently featured in Entrepreneur magazine as a small business that?s winning on Pinterest, and a 2013 calendar featuring Carl?s images compiled by Orange Circle Design, one of the world?s largest calendar producers, will be available in Target stores nationwide.

You started your business by opening your gallery in New Hope, but you?ve also taken advantage of online opportunities. Talk about the role that both the physical presence and online presence have in your business.

The online presence is a way for me to tier my products. One thing I learned from my corporate days working for Fortune 500 companies is that no matter what you?re selling, whether it?s an automobile or financial service, you tier your products. I knew that was important, but it was really difficult to do within the gallery.

My bread and butter within the gallery are very expensive murals and large handcrafted frames, so within the same gallery, how do I sell a $25 piece next to one of these items? We couldn?t figure out a way to do that, so we moved everything online, including all the lower end products. That?s how we discovered Etsy, which was the perfect venue for that, and that?s how we ended up promoting our Etsy store on Pinterest.

Having said all that, for right now, my online business will be a sidebar. I sold $4,000-worth of work today out of my gallery. The day I do that online, I?m going to sing the Hallelujah Chorus.

integrity studio interviewHow are you using Pinterest?

Pinterest is a vehicle that Etsy quickly adopted, and we saw this as a great visual way for us to try out our work, being able to monitor the number of hits that we were receiving, and determine whether or not a piece was worthy to put in the window at the gallery. We often base that on how well-received an item was on Pinterest.

One of my tactics is to find the most interesting and odd thing out there in the art world. I?ll pin it, and immediately after that, I?ll pin a piece of my work because the two sit right up there fresh on the pin board next to each other. Anecdotally, I can tell it works based on the referral traffic and analytics.

Pinterest is a way for me to let people know that there?s more to me than just my personal photography. This is a visual thinker, this is a person who appreciates good design and fine furniture, and this is a person who has a sense of humor. I have a whole humor section. I have a Pinterest board called ?Wish You Were Beer.? You can understand where my head is at when you see the things I pin there ? much to my wife?s chagrin. It?s a way for people to understand who I am without a bunch of words. When you go on my Pinterest page, you?ll get a feeling. You?ll get an overall sense of what I like based on the things that I?ve pinned.

Subversively, I?m selling you my products. I?m trying to play within Pinterest?s rules of not letting it be an overtly marketing site, but it is. I?m marketing myself and my work, but I?m not punching you in the face with it.

How has Pinterest impacted your business?

Pre-Pinterest, two-and-a-half years ago, Google was the number one way people would find me, and number two would be Etsy. Now, Etsy is number one, Pinterest is number two, and Google is number three. And Pinterest is responsible for a big part of our Etsy traffic. It?s huge as far as actual eyeballs.

I like the fact that if I pin something up there, those pins link directly back to a buying opportunity. It?s a call-to-action that goes directly to an opportunity to buy. We felt the impact more before everybody discovered Pinterest. We feel it a little bit less now but the numbers are still there. We?re obviously another fish in a much bigger ocean now.

Three creative passions drive your business ? photography, original paintings and handcrafted artisan frames ? three passions that require major time commitments. How do you balance everything with actually running your business?

It really comes down to which project will bring the most income to my family. I know that seems boring and business-like for an artist, but it?s the truth. I don?t cut my own mat board. I don?t cut my own glass. The reason why is each of those is a $1 or $2 item.

I outsource the least expensive things and put my energy and effort into the things that make the most money ? building a body of work, producing that work, scouting new areas, making the frames. The framing industry is ridiculously expensive. It might take me six hours to make a 30 x 40 furniture-grade frame, but I can sell that frame for $1000.

As far as creating, whether it?s a new painting or a new photograph, the truth is I don?t find time to shoot or create. The time finds me. I have four children in the house under the age of 9. My wife runs an online business. I run my online business and a brick-and-mortar gallery. If I have a two-hour window in the middle of the day, I can?t just decide it?s time to shoot and pick up my camera. The atmosphere may not be right, my mood may not be right and the lighting certainly isn?t going to be right. You?re really sort of stuck.

integrity studio interviewIf I?m having dinner with my family and I look out the window and see the most beautiful golden light I?ve ever seen, and I know how a certain tree on the top of the hill 15 miles away is going to look, I have to go. It?s time to shoot. As far as painting, if I?m in a bad mood, I don?t pick up a brush. People come into the gallery and say that every piece makes them happy. I never shoot or paint when I?m not happy because I don?t want that to come through in the work.

All of these things filter out a lot of the opportunities to shoot and paint. Thankfully, I have a large body of work. If I create one or two things over the next 60 days that I?m truly proud of, that would be amazing.

On your website, you say, ?Twenty years from now, we want a viable legacy we can hand over to our children.? What kind of legacy?

Both of my parents were orphans. I have no grandparents. My wife comes from the former East Germany and has very little family. Anything we can give to our four children ? because we had nothing given to us ? is our legacy, and we want it to be something they can be proud of. We?re all about the future and the next generation.

We would like very much to be able to give our children the opportunity, if they should desire, to take over where we left off. We own our gallery and try to build Integrity Studio on a brand of integrity. If they want to develop their own line of anything, they could put it up on a wall and sell their work.

The other day, my four-year-old said, ?Daddy, can I make a painting to sell at your gallery?? Of course she can. It?s sitting in the window with a $10 price tag on it. I want them to go to college and get a degree, but I don?t want them to think that?s their only choice if they want to learn to do something with their own hands. I?m very passionate about that.

Red king or red queen: In relationships based on mutuality, number of individuals involved can determine rate at which species evolve

ScienceDaily (Sep. 24, 2012) ? The relationship between species determines how rapidly they evolve. Parasites and their hosts coevolve more rapidly, and partners in a mutualistic relationship can evolve more slowly. But this view is obviously too simplistic. The rate of evolution in a mutualistic relationship does not depend only on the type of interactions, but also on the number of individuals involved, according to a model developed by researchers of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Pl?n, Germany. Therefore, while partners can benefit from slow evolution if only two individuals interact, a higher rate of evolution may be favoured if several individuals are involved.

Parasites and hosts conduct an arms race with one another in which the parasite must constantly find new ways to circumvent the defensive measures of the host. As a result, they both constantly evolve. This is similar to the situation of the Red Queen in the book ?Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There? by British author Lewis Carroll, and is therefore labelled the Red Queen Hypothesis.

The counterpart to it is the Red King?s Hypothesis, first posited in 2003: in mutualistic relationships, evolving more slowly can be favoured. This occurs, namely, when the partners behave egotistically in the beginning and then attempt to become more altruistic. The partner holding back and evolving more slowly benefits, as it does not have to invest anything in improving the partnership.

Up to now, researchers have explored the Red King Hypothesis only in models for which two individuals come into contact with one another. However, this does not reflect reality for the most part. It is much more often the case in nature that several individuals are in a relationship with one another. Thus, several ants protect a single butterfly larva in order to be rewarded with its honeydew. For the ant, the relationship is therefore between two individuals; however, from the perspective of the caterpillar, there are multiple partners interacting.

The scientists in Pl?n have therefore tested the Red King?s Hypothesis in a multiplayer model. According to this, it was confirmed that the Red King?s Hypothesis is only valid in pairwise mutualistic relationships. As soon as several parties are involved, it becomes considerably more complicated. ?Then more rapid evolution can be favoured for a party as well,? explains Chaitanya Gokhale from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology.
