Rain wallops Northeast still recovering from Irene (AP)

TRENTON, N.J. ? New Jersey cities still cleaning up from flooding caused by Hurricane Irene and remnants of Tropical Storm Lee could see up to 5 inches of rain.

The state was under a flood watch through Saturday afternoon, but most areas were also under warnings Friday night.

Forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of rain are possible over the weekend, with up to 5 inches in some spots. In nearby Philadelphia, up to 3 inches are possible.

Farther north, in southern Vermont, counties hit hard by Irene were placed under a flood watch. Up to 4 inches are expected in Bennington and Windham counties.

The flooding was spurred by heavy rains from Lee, which came days after Irene soaked the region.

Forecasters say the ground can't absorb much more water.
