Pasco prep football camps scheduled

Wesley Chapel football

Wesley Chapel coach Tico Hernandez and the Wildcats football program are hosting two camps this summer.

From July 22-25, there will be a camp for seventh- to 12th graders, from 8 a.m. to noon. From July 29-31, a Junior Wildcat Football Camp for third- to sixth-graders will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

The camps will focus on enjoying and respecting the game, coaches and teammates, offensive/defensive position work, basic rules and fundamentals and how nutrition and exercise fit into the game.

Cost of the junior football camp is $40, or $65 for two campers, and includes a T-shirt. The football camp is $55 per camper, and $90 for two.

Wiregrass Ranch football

Wiregrass Ranch coach Mike Lawrence and the Bulls football program will host a camp July 10-13 for players in grades eight through 12 on the school's campus.

Lawrence and his coaching staff will focus on position fundamentals, film breakdown, speed enhancement and more. Cost per camper is $65 per week.

AATL football workouts

The Academy at the Lakes varsity football team began summer workouts June 17, and they will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Any players interested in playing football at Academy must be at these workouts to sign up and get needed paperwork.

Matos clinic baseball two-day camps

The Julius Matos Baseball Clinic, at 8004 Congress Street in New Port Richey, has a variety of camps and clinics running through July and August.

There are clinics on pitching, hitting, catching and fielding, and each two-day camp is $49 per athlete. Space is limited to 30 players per camp, and the camps are taught by former major-league players and coaches. Camps run from 10 a.m. to noon.
