Good news regarding EHV-1! Both the Oregon & Washington state veterinarians have made statements saying ?It appears the virus has been contained?. ??I spoke with Dr. Hansen (OR) this morning. He said ?We?ve passed the quarantine times for infected and non-infected premises.? Dr. Hansen plans to issue a full statement at?www.oregonvma.org today.

On the website?www.agr.wa.gov, Dr. Eldridge (WA) states ?Any horse that has not tested positive, exhibited symptoms, or been exposed to a confirmed positive horse can be cleared for travel.? Washington?s website also contains ?Recommendations for Horse Show/Event Managers Regarding EHV-1 Biosecurity Procedures? ? great tips for managers & competitors.
