Los Angeles Homes ? Simi Valley

Ventura County in California is one that has many cities including Simi Valley. It is found in the south eastern portion of the county. It is included in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The population is not incredibly small or too large and was 118,687 in 2005 which was the latest count.

The valley is referred to as Simi in short. This is also the location of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library as one of the major landmarks. It is an incredibly safe city and has repeatedly made the list of safest cities. It?s latest number was ranked as 7th in cities where the population was between 100,000 to 500,000 people. This makes it very attractive for families. The borders of the valley are the hills in the south and east and to the north are the Santa Susana Mountains. This valley is very recreational with 20 different parks in the city and five in the county alone. A lot of the space is open around the mountains.

The distance from cities depends on what city you are looking to for a location. 3 miles away you will find Chatsworth and downtown Los Angeles is 40 miles away. San Francisco itself is quite far away at 380 miles from Simi and San Diego is 160 miles from it. Sacramento is another large city in California but lies 350 miles away. Commuting is made possible by the Metrolink Commuter Train or people who wish to drive their own vehicles can take the Ronald Reagan 118 Freeway.

Being so close to Los Angeles is one of the main benefits of living here. It?s nice to live out in a suburb, but be able to drive into the large city for the some of the best restaurants and shopping in the world. It takes less than 45 minutes to drive to Los Angeles, which most people in the area don?t actually think it?s that far. Many people also commute to work in Los Angeles, due to their being so many jobs available which is rare for this economy.

Recreation opportunities include a nature trail which many people can walk along. Equestrians and bicyclists can also be found on the trails. Six different golf courses are found in the parks for an afternoon or morning of enjoyment. Sports fans can get their fix by watching the two baseball teams found in Simi Valley, California Oaks and the SV Senators.

Mountain biking is frequently done on the Rocky Peak since trails are designed specifically for the activity. People can get to the trail by going to Kuehner Road, Chumash Trail, Rocky Peak Road, or even the Hummingbird Trail if that is your preferred method. The main road provides access to the G-Spot which is popular for mountain biking as well.

The western portion of the valley has its own mountain biking as well which needs to be accessed by going to the Long Canyon Parkway and Wood Ranch Parkway. It extends all the way out to highway 23. The varied trail systems have multiple access points depending on where you are coming from so that many people have the ability to enjoy the opportunities for recreation.

Bad News Bears, which was filmed in 2005, had its skate park in Simi Valley. Transformers 2, which is a huge hit film, also had a few scenes which were filmed in the valley at the high school. Music has also had its part here since Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit was shot at the skate park in the eastern portion of Simi. A multitude of different TV shows and series have had either all of some of their scenes shot in Simi. Two of the most well known are M*A*S*H and Gunsmoke.
